wow- the over all composition is superb...and if you will allow me a moment to practice using principles and elements of design i will tell you why this is smack awesome!!!!

ok first- excellent use of positive an negative space in your back ground as well as texture.

also i seem to find the focal point of the piece the red blood on against the white coat which make your piece appear to be close to using what it called the one thirds two thirds ratio which is what most artists want to do because it is extremely aesthetically pleasing to the human eye.

the wings have good structure because they seem to be based mostly on odd numbers which is also naturally pleasing to the idea...and they have value in there hue making them much more interesting.

there is generally good range and rhythm in your design and patterns which makes your piece more kinetic- instead of being static.

you seem to go with a more symmetrical piece- which looks really good and a elegant dynamic piece like this but might have been even better if you'd chose to go asymmetrical and placed some of your objects and focal point not in the center.

i can't say again how much i really love your positive and negative space contrasting shadows with light in the mist...that was just brilliant- it makes your eye follow the piece up and down and around- which is what you'd want in a good design

so- now you know why your piece is so super smack dab awesome!! and why everyone is telling you it is win!!
it has good use of all the principles of design and a good variety of the elements as well- bravo!!!
